Upper Freight Solutions LLC is an owner-operated freight brokerage in Oklahoma City. Here is who runs it, how it started, and the standards we hold ourselves to.
Our story
From one desk on South Lincoln Boulevard
Daniel Williams started Upper with a laptop, a load board subscription and a short list of carriers he had personally ridden along with. The first month was eleven loads. The principle behind those eleven loads has not changed since.
Before founding the company, Daniel spent years coordinating regional freight along the I-40 corridor and later managed inbound logistics for a distributor that shipped roughly four hundred truckloads a year. That second job is the one that shaped Upper. Sitting on the customer side, he watched brokers quote aggressively, disappear after booking, and reappear only with an invoice that did not match the quote.
So Upper was built backwards from that frustration. Rates are written before dispatch. Carriers are vetted before they are offered. Updates are pushed to the shipper rather than pulled out of the broker. It is not a revolutionary model — it is simply the one most shippers assume they already bought.
Today the company handles dry van, refrigerated, flatbed and partial freight nationwide, with the heaviest concentration in the Oklahoma–Texas–Kansas triangle. We have grown, but we still cap the number of accounts each coordinator carries, because the moment a coordinator stops recognizing your freight, the service that made us worth hiring disappears.

Daniel oversees carrier relationships, pricing and every escalated load. Fifteen years in dispatch and shipper-side logistics; he still personally quotes flatbed and over-dimensional freight because that is where a wrong assumption costs the most.
The coordination desk
Our coordinators handle booking, check calls, appointment scheduling and paperwork. Each account is assigned a primary and a documented backup so coverage never depends on one person being at their desk.
Carrier compliance is reviewed on a rolling basis: operating authority, insurance certificates, FMCSA safety data and past performance on our own loads.
Dispatch hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00–19:00 Central, with an after-hours line for loads already in transit.
Standards
The commitments we put in writing
Carrier vetting
Active FMCSA operating authority, minimum $1,000,000 auto liability and $100,000 cargo coverage, verified certificate of insurance naming Upper, and a review of safety scores before any dispatch.
Rate integrity
The all-in rate on your confirmation is the rate we invoice. Accessorials such as detention or lumper fees are only billed with the supporting document attached.
Communication
Confirmation at booking, pickup confirmation with driver details, in-transit updates on multi-day runs, delivery confirmation and same-day POD.
Documentation
Rate confirmations, bills of lading, proofs of delivery, temperature logs and weight tickets retained and available on request for the life of the account.
Claims handling
Cargo claims acknowledged within one business day and filed with the carrier on your behalf. We tell you what is recoverable and what is not, honestly and early.
Data handling
Shipment and contact data used only to run your freight. We do not sell customer information. See our Privacy Policy.
